GOBIK Thermal Leg Warmers
Thermal leg warmers are one of the most used accessories by cyclists of all conditions, from the amateur to the professional. GOBIK offers us its unisex model in two versions of the product, a long one, which covers the entire leg, and a short, pirate one, which stays at the height of the calf. Both incorporate a Rainlab fabric with a waterproof and highly breathable membrane, a perfect garment for spring and autumn? Maybe also for winter? We will tell you.
Mid-season adaptability
The climate is capricious, and more in intermediate seasons such as spring or summer. Traditionally, leg (and arms) warmers have been one of the preferred accessories for cyclists to gain thermal adaptation during a route. They are easy to put on and take off, being able to go out wearing them in the cool morning temperatures, and take them off and store them in the jersey when the day progresses and the heat arrives.
I know many cyclists who even use them throughout the winter, because if you live in latitudes with a temperate climate, you can extend the use of the shorts with them. Everything will depend on your tolerance to cold, although you will see that with the fabric of this model it will seem that you are wearing a long culotte.
Rainlab fabric
We are old friends from GOBIK‘s «Rainlab». Under this name, products specifically designed to resist rain are grouped. In the case at hand, the leg warmers use the same fabric, thickness and waterproof capacity as that of the Absolute 4.0, therefore, it is a true guarantee that we will not have problems with cold, air or rain.
One of the strengths of this fabric is that even though it is of medium thickness, its elasticity is fantastic, without compromising joints such as the knee.
Perfect adjustment
The elastics and silicone inserts in the lower and upper area provide us with a snug and comfortable fit, without the legs moving or falling from the thigh area as the kilometers pass:
The extra width of the bottom is appreciated, which distributes pressure more evenly without overtightening:
Our opinion on route
We have tested the Rainlab leg warmers on several outings together with the Gravity K12 bib shorts. You can see in the photo that the combination is fantastic, you have to pay close attention to realize that you are wearing leggings and not a full winter culotte:
We have loved their exceptional fit, once they are fixed, they stay there the entire route, without having to go up the thigh area. The fabric is warm, waterproof and windproof. I had my doubts that it was flexible enough in the knee areas, but I have not had any problems, finishing the routes without discomfort. And if you’re hot, you can always take them off and store them in the pockets of the jersey. It is a garment of fantastic versatility.
Rainlab leg warmers are available in 3 sizes, for my measurements 1.90 m (74″) in height and 77 kg (169 lbs) in weight, size L-XL is perfect for me.
Good route!
