GOBIK Nuuk, thermal gloves
In this article: review and opinion of the GOBIK Nuuk 2021 thermal gloves.
GOBIK’s Nuuk gloves are new for the 2021-2022 winter season (Cold Series 2122). They are gloves with Primaloft fiber insulation, considered one of the best options on the market to keep us warm and dry. With a use temperature range of -3 to +9 ºC, they are designed to withstand low temperatures, wind and rain.
Harsh cold conditions
There is no worse feeling than freezing hands. It begins with a stabbing pain that turns into an unpleasant numbness, with loss of touch and ability to grip. Not only is it terribly awkward, but we’re also playing the game. Taking care of our upper extremities is essential in cold temperatures and good gloves will make us suffer less and we can grip the handlebars well to brake when we have to.
GOBIK Nuuk gloves have a 3-layer structure:
- Outer layer: with a waterproof and windproof but breathable fabric. It will protect us against the harsh conditions of winter.
- Middle layer: an insulating layer of Primaloft that is responsible for providing warmth and keeping hands dry.
- Inner layer: a very soft lining that will help us gain sensitivity on the handlebars.
But before commenting on our sensations on the road, let’s take a closer look at how they are.
The Nuuk up close
The entire palm of the gloves has silicone to optimize the grip on the handlebar to the maximum. We are struck by the inserts on the index finger and thumb, to be able to use touch screens:

The cuff of the glove is made of neoprene, which achieves a great fit with our wrist and prevents the entry of cold air. On it also stand out the labels of Rain Lab, division of waterproof products of GOBIK and Primaloft:
The Rain Lab detail also appears above the index finger:
And finally, we highlight the brand’s reflective logo on the sides, increasing our night visibility:
On Route
The feeling when trying the Nuuk is that we are facing an absolute winter glove but it is not cumbersome, like a ski glove for example. It has a great balance between protection and sensitivity. The hand feels warm, but at the same time the grip is good and it is not difficult for us to grab the handlebar or the brakes. The neoprene shaft helps to isolate its interior, fitting very well with our wrist and allowing the sleeves of our jacket to slide inside:
We have tested the gloves on outings in temperatures down to minus 5 degrees Celsius. I’m not lying to you, at those temperatures the sensation in the hands is cold, but it allows us to continue the route without problems. My partner wore intermediate gloves and had real problems with freezing, his hands turning purple after an hour, something that did not happen to me with the Nuuk. The Primaloft padding is the best, and in these situations it shows and gives a great performance.
They are ideal gloves for the first hours of the morning, where the temperature is very cold in winter. They will also protect you from possible rain or wind, since nothing happens inside. We liked them much more than the neoprene models because their breathability is perfect and we don’t end up with wet hands.
Tips with gloves
Finally, some tips that will surely help you fight the cold:
- It is important to go outside with warm gloves. You can put them inside your jacket for a few minutes to warm up.
- Wear a size loose enough to create a small air space inside. If the size is very fair you will spend more cold.
- Do not blow inside the gloves, because you will fill them with moisture and the remedy will be worse than the disease. If your hands are very cold for a few moments, put them inside the jacket and wait for them to warm up. It is also good to shake your hands towards the ground to circulate the blood.
- Do not use latex gloves inside, they will prevent the evaporation of sweat and your hands will end up wet and cold.
- Also carry in your jacket (winter ones like Armor have inner pockets for it) some intermediate gloves. When the temperature improves, you can exchange the Nuuk for them and enjoy an extra grip.
Good route!
