GOBIK Kamik, winter overshoes
In this article: review and opinion of the GOBIK Kamik Black 2021 overshoes.
GOBIK Kamik is a winter overshoes with a wear temperature range of -2 to 10 ºC. It has a solid construction, with highly elastic waterproof polyurethane fabric and a highly resistant material sole. It integrates reflective elements in the toe and heel that improve our visibility and safety. The back zipper is sealed, with a top velcro.

Cold on your feet?
If you are a cyclist in winter and do not abuse the indoor roller, you will know that terrible feeling of having your feet frozen like hail. During the coldest months of the year a series of factors come together that make our beloved lower extremities an easy target, namely:
- Most cycling shoes are for summer, with large openings to ventilate our feet and no inner lining.
- As the temperature drops, the wind that hits our feet increases the negative thermal sensation.
- If we use thick socks, we minimize the air space inside the shoe and our feet will not get hot.
The solution to all these problems is to use a shoe cover. We will be able to isolate our feet completely from the cold outside, we will be able to continue using thin summer socks and we will also gain 2 extra benefits: aerodynamics and waterproofing. Sounds like a good move doesn’t it?
GOBIK Kamik in detail
As usual, before offering our impressions on the road, let’s take a closer look at the characteristics of this garment from the leading Spanish manufacturer of cycling clothing.
In our first photo we can see the polyurethane material that covers the entire upper area, with a great touch and elasticity. The excellent seam finishes and the velcro that will hide the zipper when we have it completely closed stand out. The latter, in addition to being sealed, is also reflective:
The sole is always critical in an accessory like this, it must be very resistant, since we walk with it and sufficiently elastic to fit well with the cleats. In the Kamik, it is an area that has been worked with special care, its perfect seams and reinforcements stand out. The material, called Super Tex by GOBIK, ensures great resistance and durability:
We now insert our usual road shoes. We note that Kamik is not designed for other types of footwear, such as mountain, which can damage it:
In our case we use size L-XL and our Mavic number 45, glide smoothly inside. The fit is perfect:

We really liked the fabric, its solid and resistant construction and its good fit and ease of use. Now let’s see how they work.
On Route
We have tested Kamik on routes with temperatures of 2ºC. The difference compared to wearing a summer shoe with a thick sock is abysmal. Our feet are warm, insulated and protected against the wind and rain. It’s a great feeling, all of a sudden you eliminate one of the biggest discomfort points in winter cycling.
But it is also that, if your summer shoes are colorful or white, as in my case, we win a good combination with the usual black long culottes, and also aerodynamics:
The only downside that we can have is with the fit of the shoes, and that is that we lose access to the ratchets or boas in motion, but it is something that we solve with a simple quick stop, opening the shoe covers.
Kamik is a very well executed garment, fulfilling with an excellent note the mission for which it is designed. Isolates, protects and does not disturb. From our point of view, an irreplaceable garment in the winter months.
