GOBIK Limited 4.1, bib tights
In this article: review and opinion of the GOBIK Limited 4.1 2021 bib tights
GOBIK Limited 4.1 K10 is a long winter bib short that is placed one step below the Absolute 4.0 model in the Spanish manufacturer’s range. With a soft and warm fabric, it has flat straps made of micro-perforated elastic band and integrates the K10 chamois from the Italian manufacturer Elastic Interface, with a double-channel structure for sweat extraction and elastic memory. In this article we analyze it in depth.
Do not miss: comparison of the GOBIK winter garments, you can see all the models ordered by temperature of use, protection against wind and rain.
A culotte for everyday
Limited 4.1 is perfect for daily training. It does not have the most advanced features of the brand, but it does meet the mark in what for us are the most important in a bib tights. The inclusion of the same K10 chamois that its brother Absolute uses guarantees us comfort and performance on a par with the best models on the market. Its straps are made of a microperforated fabric, we could say halfway between the ultralight Gravity and the more consistent Absolute. Finally, its fabric is very similar in terms of thickness and softness to the latter, but it loses the rainproof feature.
Let’s take a closer look at all of its features in our usual in-depth tour.
Limited 4.1 up close
We start at the top, fixing our eyes on the straps. They are of good width, with a fine micro-perforated fabric that makes them breathe better than those of the Absolute model:
In this photo we can appreciate its construction in detail:
Continuing with the straps, in this image we compare Limited with Absolute. You can see that the points where they start on the abdomen and where they end on the back are the same. We also point out that the fabric of the abdomen is perforated in Limited.
The usual details inside the garment are already a house brand, they contribute to making the garment special and show that the brand does not skimp on offering the best possible design of its products, even in the parts that cannot be seen:
In this photo we appreciate the inner fabric. With a soft plush, which conveys warmth and comfort. The magnificent finish of the flat seams and the insert of the chamois will prevent annoying chafing on long-distance routes:
We have already talked on other occasions about the excellent K10 chamois, GOBIK uses the pads of the Italian specialist Elastic Interface, a reputed manufacturer with one of the best technologies in the sector and with OEKO-TEX® certifications (we are sure to use safe cycling pads free of chemicals harmful to health) and BLUESIGN® (certification of materials and fabrics that respect the planet).
It is made with EIT ECO CARBONIUM FLASH fabric, which combines:
- Structure with channels on two levels: provides good sweat control. The first channel picks it up and directs it downward, while the second channel removes it.
- Carbon thread: with antistatic and bacteriostatic properties, which generates an extremely soft and highly breathable fabric.
The ankle area is made in a simpler way than in the Absolute, with a lower silicone strip and two reflective details for the rear area:
On route
We have been testing the Limited 4.1 shorts on our usual routes through Tuéjar, a town in the interior of Valencia (Spain) where winter temperatures are very cold first thing in the morning. Used to regularly ride with the Absolute 4.0, we can tell you about the differences that we perceive between them.
In terms of fabric and fit, they are very similar, since all the inner fleece and K10 chamois are the same and the feeling when putting it on is the same: it feels very comfortable and warm, with good elasticity for being a winter model and with a perfect fit of the chamois area.
The main differences come from the straps and the ankles. We liked the first ones more than Absolute, since they are micro-perforated and light, more adaptable and comfortable. As for the latter, here the top-of-the-range model wins, with a great fit due to its super soft fabric, while in the Limited it is a classic silicone insert, which does not move or bother, but does not give that sensation so comfortable. Another point that you have to take into account is that the outer fabric of the Limited does not have protection against wind and rain.
Our opinion
As you will see, the difference between both bib tights are small details, which will make you opt for one or the other, but the important basis (pad and general comfort) is the same. Limited 4.1 is a great winter short, at the same level as the Absolute, and that ensures great comfort on long and cold routes.
As for sizing, we use the XL size for measurements of 190 cm and 77 kg of weight. The use of this size comes from the length of the leg, rather than the width of the hips. GOBIK garments are not very long.
