GOBIK Revolution 2.0 bib shorts: long-term test

Review and opinion of the Gobik Revolution 2.0 2024 bib shorts
Within the Spanish manufacturer’s range of bib shorts, REVOLUTION is one of the most cutting-edge models, focused on cyclists looking for a high-performance garment.

Among its most outstanding features, two stand out: its 4-Way Stretch fabric and extended leg length, both of which combine to provide the main quality of this garment: high muscle compression.
Who is REVOLUTION for?
If you are reading this review the first thing you will be interested to know is if these shorts can be a good option for you. For my part I have been using it since last summer (24) and my feelings with it are of an absolutely racing garment, like an advanced version of the famous ABSOLUTE. The latter is already a model that adapts very well to the cyclist, looking for a high muscular compression and avoiding movement during pedaling, keeping the chamois as stable as possible and also the thigh and waist area.

With REVOLUTION these sensations become even more palpable, as the fabric has an adaptability far superior to that found in more normal rashguards and the thigh area has a large format elastic band that prevents the legs from “riding up”, with a degree of compression well adjusted. Finally, the +2 cm extended leg length makes it a great option for those looking to cover more thigh and extend muscle compression, with the associated performance benefits.

If, on the other hand, you are looking for a garment with a more relaxed feel, which does not remain fixed or compress the muscles, there are better options such as ULTRALITE or MATT.
Main Features
- Lycra 4-Way Stretch: is a type of fabric that has the ability to stretch in both horizontal (side-to-side) and vertical (top-to-bottom) directions. This means that the fabric has a bi-directional stretch, allowing for a more comfortable and flexible fit. The feel of it gives the impression of being very durable and resistant, making it suitable for frequent use and to withstand the pressure of continuous movements.
- Graphene straps: they are a true work of engineering, with a perfect laser cut, which prevents chafing, the integrated graphene thread, which favors thermal regulation and the central opening, very useful for even more breathability.

- Graphene chamois: continuing with this material that has such good results with moisture management, it is not unusual that Gobik has included it in all its high-end chamois. In this case it is the K10 Graphene, well known for its great performance and comfort.
- Elastic leg grippers: large format, 60 mm, with an ultralight fabric that breathes like a charm and an integrated grip on the inner side that fits our thighs without excessive pressure.

How do you feel on the road?
As soon as you put on these shorts the racing sensations are fully appreciable. It’s a racing garment designed to perform at its best and it doesn’t take many pedal strokes to realize it. Once you have it in place, it doesn’t shift and follows your movement with little difficulty.

The shoulder straps are very comfortable and Gobik has very measured the exact pressure to be exerted. The breathability has improved over previous versions thanks to the incorporation of graphene. The lower area gathers the abdomen in a marked way, so if you have some “belly” it may be too tight. The back area is very interesting, with the grid that allows superior ventilation, a detail that I really liked and really helps to cool better on hot days.

The K10 Graphene chamois pad follows in the footsteps of the superb K10, but with an improvement in breathability. It’s proof that a chamois pad that’s not too thick can be terribly comfortable. The key is its different density foams, which provide support where it is really needed. It adapts to our morphology like a glove and breathes very well, something that for me is key and where thicker chamois fail, which do not provide any advantage in my opinion.

Finally, the thigh area is very well resolved. On the one hand the extra length, which in my particular case is perfect (height 190 cm), covering more of the quadriceps, on the other hand, the elastic bands, with a fantastic finish and a very breathable material that does not exert excessive pressure.
Pros & Cons
Pros:
- High quality 4-Way Stretch fabric.
- Elastic memory pad with optimal moisture management.
- Extended leg length for better compression.
- Elastic bands with grip for a secure fit.
- Lightweight and breathable.
Cons:
- High price.
- Can put pressure on the abdomen if you are not thin.
- Specific fit, requires a good choice of size.
Conclusion
The Gobik REVOLUTION 2.0 bib shorts are an outstanding choice for high-performance cyclists looking for a garment with high muscle compression and a precise fit. Its Lycra 4-Way Stretch fabric provides great flexibility and strength, while the K10 Graphene pad ensures comfort and breathability. The large-format elastic bands and extended leg length improve compression and prevent the garment from moving during pedaling. While it is ideal for those looking for a tight fit and performance in competition, it is not the best choice for those who prefer a more relaxed feel or less compression. Overall, it is a very high quality garment, ideal for cyclists who prioritize performance during long and demanding rides.
